May 2009 Auction
It’s almost that time again, and on May 21, 2009 we will have our big shell auction, a time when everyone gets some great shells at some really great bargain prices! Viewing (and eating) starts at 6 pm, and bidding at 7 pm. Be there promptly, as things go quickly!
Using this link you will find the 2009 auction list, and as always, the nets bring in new surprises every time. Be sure to start studying the lists now and start thinking about the items that you will want to bid on. There are a plethora of goodies to choose from.
As you all know, we have downsized the auction for the second year, but the variety of shells that we had available for the auction this year is sure to make this auction very special. There are many beautiful shells, many rare shells, and some shell related items which will include something to tempt everyone.
The shell club is always evolving, and our priorities changing to fit changing times. This year marks the first time that we don’t have to worry about the auction supporting the show, so the profits made will go directly into our treasury and can be used for support of the Academy’s Malacology Department and many other worthwhile purposes. But the quality of the auction has not slipped, and the specimens up for grabs are as good as ever. Looking forward to seeing you all at the auction and it will be our usual shellebration complete with full dinner and drink, so that we can make a festive evening of it. Nobody has more fun than we do at our auctions, so plan to be there and feast on great food, great company, and great shells!
Your auctioneer,
Rich Kirk
