28th Annual Shell Show
 
October 9th & 10th 2010
 
The largest shell show in the Northeast will be held at the Academy on the second weekend of October, 2010. Entry to the show is free with museum admission.

Thousands of beautiful and unusual shells will be on display or for sale. Attractions include:

* Competitive displays by dozens of collectors and amateur scientists.
* Craftspeople and illustrators will showcase their works and compete for major national and regional prizes.
* International Shell Market featuring shells, shell craft, jewelry, books and more.
* Behind-the-Scene Tours of the Academy's Malacology Collection. This collection, which houses about 12 million specimens, is the oldest mollusk collection in the United States and the second largest in the world.
* Meet with Academy scientists, who'll be available to answer your questions and discuss their work.
* Free shells for kids.
* A full program of special shell-themed Academy events and activities for young and old on both show days
* Learn about the Philadelphia Shell Club.
* Enter to win exciting raffle items.

On Saturday evening following the closing of the show, there will be a Supper and Awards Ceremony with surprise events and guests! Watch this site for more details.
